Organizational Context:
With its 192 member countries, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations, is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.
Main duties:
As part of the Communication Programme team responsible for both internal and external communication, the incumbent will take responsibilities in external and internal institutional communications activities and events, as follows:

1. Web editing
Under the direct supervision of the Lead Communication Expert and in liaison with internal focal points and the Web Administrator, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the content of the UPU website to:
- Contribute to and execute the Communication Programme's content strategy in relation to web communications;
- Research, draft and edit content, key news and developments for the purposes of updating and expanding the public information published on the UPU website;
- Establish regular contact with internal focal points to ensure that the static content of the website is updated on a timely basis;
- Receive, control and approve update requests from internal focal points;
- Train internal focal points in other departments on using the content management system (CMS) and establish an organization-wide process;
- Provide insights on monthly web analytics with the help of the Web Administrator.

2. Events
- Assist in preparing the UPU Executive Management for participation in internal and external events, including speechwriting for events;
- Support the strategic planning and creative development of UPU flagship events, proactively managing all events-related needs ranging from branding, agenda design and venue selection to event execution;
- Perform other event-related duties as required.

3. Content and publications
- Assist with ghostwriting for the UPU's Executive Management, including the production of speeches, statements, publication forewords and quotes for the Director General and Deputy Director General when required;
- Monitor publication processes, including receiving content, design and proposing a publication marketing plan;
- Work with content owners and the Graphic Arts Assistant to ensure consistent brand identity, messaging and editorial style across the organization's various publications;
- Propose marketing plans for the UPU's flagship publications and key research;
- Contribute to publications and outreach materials for resource mobilization purposes;
- Contribute as a writer to the quarterly publication of the UPU's Union Postale magazine.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education:
University degree (Bachelor) in communication, public relations, international relations or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum three years' work experience in communication or public relations with an undergraduate degree or two years' work experience with a graduate degree. Work experience in an international environment and/or an international organization would be an advantage.
Skills and abilities / competencies:
1. Excellent writing and editing skills for print and digital media.
2. Ability to think strategically and develop communication plans, shape key messages and identify target audiences.
3. Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
4. Strong command of digital tools and techniques, including the development of web content, use of content management systems, and search engine optimization strategies.
5. Good project management skills, including event management.
6. Experience working in a fast-paced, international and political environment.
Language skills:
Proficiency in English and good working knowledge of French.
Additional Information:
French is the official language of the UPU. English and French are the working languages of the UPU International Bureau.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
49,254 USD
Post adjustment: 71.4 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.

The conditions of service are governed by the Staff Regulations and Rules of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union.
