Organizational Context:
The Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations and the principal forum for cooperation between postal sector stakeholders, establishes the rules for international mail exchanges. It has 192 member countries and has its headquarters in Berne, Switzerland.
Its primary objective is to encourage the provision of a quality postal service that is accessible to all, and its core mission is to develop social, cultural and commercial communication between peoples.
The UPU comprises several bodies, including the Postal Operations Council (POC), made up of representa-tives from 41 member countries, which considers operational and technical matters of interest to the postal service. It promotes the introduction of new postal products. It also establishes standards for the various technological, operational or other processes and procedures for their implementation.
Main duties:
Under the supervision of the mentor, the Postal Technology Centre Directorate manager responsible for International Bureau (IB) applications and support, the trainee will participate in user assistance and help carry out support operations on IT systems.

In the context of first-level interventions, participate in the following activities in order to make use of the technical knowledge required for the traineeship (2):
- Help and advise internal and external users of the International Bureau IT system
- Take receipt of, categorize and prioritize incoming service requests and IT incidents reported by users via the ticketing system
- Forward requests to the appropriate service group in line with the established service levels and com-mitments (SLA)
- Track, and regularly update users on, the progress of their requests through to resolution
- Inform users of major incidents or planned service interruptions
- Report on needs and incidents to the IB applications and support manager
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education:
- Final year of vocational school/college, studies relating to computer networks and communication systems
Experience:
No previous experience is required.
Technical knowledge:
Educational or theoretical knowledge:
- Architecture of a computer:
 PC assembly
 Peripherals: technologies, interfaces, etc.
 "Client" and "server" operating systems:
- Windows 10 Professional, Linux Debian, Linux Ubuntu
- Installation, commands, configurations, parameter setting
- Local networks:
 Protocols : Ethernet, TCP/IP, ARP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
 "Copper" cabling: characteristics, cabling rules, categories, connections, patching, certification
 Interconnection devices: switches, routers, Wi-Fi, etc.
 Switch configuration: HP, Cisco
- Installation and administration of Windows 2012 servers: Configuration, NTFS and inherited permissions, sharing permissions, local/global groups, roaming/mandatory profiles, logon scripts, GPO security policies, trust relationships
Skills and abilities / competencies:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Adaptability
Customer Service Orientation
Language skills:
Very good knowledge of spoken and written French or English
