Organizational Context:
The Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations and the principal forum for cooperation between postal sector stakeholders, establishes the rules for international mail exchanges. It has 192 member countries and has its headquarters in Berne.

Its primary objective is to encourage the provision of a quality postal service that is accessible to all, and its core mission is to develop social, cultural and commercial communication between peoples.

The UPU comprises several bodies, including the Postal Operations Council (POC), which considers operational and technical matters of interest to the postal service. It promotes the introduction of new postal products. It also establishes standards for the various technological, operational or other processes and procedures for their implementation.

The Communication & Events Programme of the Universal Postal Union is responsible for promoting the organization's work and activities and the global postal sector's socioeconomic value through a variety of communication vehicles, including a full-colour, quarterly magazine, a bilingual website and various social media channels, as well as videos and other multimedia content. The Programme also manages media relations, provides communication advice and develops strategies for internal clients, and manages public relations programmes such as World Post Day (9 October) and the UPU's international letter-writing competition for young people.

The Programme regularly welcomes interns, giving them an opportunity to gain valuable and concrete communication experience in an international setting while contributing to the work of the team.

Main duties:
The trainee will assist the Communication & Events Programme by:

- Helping to write articles and features for the magazine Union Postale and the UPU website based on research and face-to-face or phone interviews
- Helping with the preparation of multimedia content (film and edit video interviews, work with designers to develop social media graphics, etc.)
- Helping to execute the Programme's communication strategy for the upcoming Abidjan Congress
- Participating in other projects as required (events, internal communication etc.)
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Skills and abilities / competencies:
Following our rules, the intern will be EXCLUSIVELY a student finalizing a Bachelor's or enrolled in a Master's programme or a recent graduate (less than 6 months) with a strong academic background in any field related to journalism, public relations or communications or similar.

- Good interviewing techniques, analytical skills and creativity,
- Filming and video editing skills,
- Familiarity with social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, LinkedIn, TikTok),
- Excellent writing skills in English, with a working knowledge of French (reading, understanding and oral)
Additional Information:
In line with UPU rules, this traineeship is reserved EXCLUSIVELY for STUDENTS. Any other candidate profile will not be considered. Recent graduates in the areas described above are also invited to apply. They must have graduated within six months of the date of this announcement.

The traineeship will be remunerated in accordance with current UPU Human Resources rules.

The conditions of service are governed by the Staff Regulations and Rules of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union.
