Organizational Context:
This is a vacancy in the General Service category for which local recruitment procedures apply, in accordance with the Staff Regulations of the UPU International Bureau. Candidates will be solely responsible for any travel or other expenses incurred in order to participate in the recruitment process or, upon selection, take up the appointment. Staff members in the General Service category are not eligible for the allowances and benefits exclusively applicable to international recruitment.

With its 192 member countries, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations, is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.
Main duties:
Prepare internal and external documents for publication, in accordance with the organization's stand-ards. When standing in for the Head of Service, coordinate translation requests between the International Bureau and the decentralized translation services in Montevideo (STES) and Moscow (STRU) to ensure requests are processed and published.

- Check typing work
- Ensure that documents and publications are presented in accordance with the templates used in the other language versions
- If required, edit correspondence in Spanish
- Provide files and master copies of documents and publications to be printed
- Where necessary, request additional information from the document authors
- Manage documents processed by the service using the Pegasus electronic document management system
- Publish all Russian and Spanish document versions on the website
- Compile statistics and maintain the archives
- In the absence of the Head of Service, receive, coordinate and manage all translation requests for Spanish and Russian, and receive, distribute and follow up on all the texts translated by the STES (Montevideo) and STRU (Moscow) decentralized services.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education:
Secondary education or equivalent technical or commercial studies
Experience:
0 to 2 years' experience in an administrative support role
Technical knowledge:
1. Very good knowledge of document formatting and typing
2. Very good knowledge of proofreading techniques
3. Very good knowledge of MS Word
4. Good knowledge of other MS Office tools (Excel and PowerPoint)
Skills and abilities / competencies:
1. High degree of availability and flexibility
2. Precision and thoroughness
3. Customer focus
4. Team player
Language skills:
Spanish mother tongue and good knowledge of English and/or French
Additional Information:
Daily salary (Net of tax)
191.60 CHF
