Organizational Context:
With its 192 member countries, the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a specialized agency of the United Nations, is the primary forum for cooperation between postal sector players. It helps to ensure a truly universal network of up-to-date products and services.
|
Main duties:
General mission: Translate internal and official IB documents. 1. Translate texts from French and English to Portuguese and from Portuguese to French and English, seeking the advice of the Expert of STPO or of other self-revising translators where necessary. 2. Edit and format Portuguese texts, seeking the advice of the Expert where necessary, and carrying out the necessary research to minimize the need for revision by the Expert. 3. Provide formal or informal drafting advice to the authors of texts. 4. Contribute to the development of specialized terminology for the UPU. 5. Participate in occasional testing of new translation tools available on the market.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED |
Education: Translation degree/diploma from an internationally recognized institution and/or bachelor's degree in the same field. |
Experience:
At least two years' professional experience in the translation field with an international organization (governmental or NGO), a public administration, or similar. |
Technical knowledge:
- Ideally, command of computer-assisted translation software such as Trados or equivalent. - Good knowledge and practical experience of terminology research on the Internet or elsewhere. - Good knowledge of office software tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). - Knowledge of databases.

Language skills:
Perfect command of Portuguese and excellent knowledge of English and French.

Monthly salary:
